Help please: running wires & an interface panel

Hi all, apologies if I dont use quite the correct terminology here as it's very much out of my normal experience:

Currently I have a telephone line, TV arial line and Sky arial line all coming in to my house in one corner of a room, and recently moved my TV to a much better part of the room... but unfortunately away from the above-mentioned lines!

Our house is a semi-detached, so I am essentially thinking that it's better to pull the cables out, extend them in some way, and then run them along the outside of the house. I'll then drill some new holes (i already have a good hammer drill and am borrowing a long drill bit) and attach some sort of panel in the new location.
Hopefully, all i'll need to do then is plug in some very short cables from the new panel to my TV, sky receiver and broadband router.

Has anyone done this? Is it a simple enough job, or am I missing something? Also, is B&Q a suitable place (I have one locally), or Maplin maybe?

    Comments welcome

Best going to a local electric shop cost less. I would guess you're phone line would just need phone cable attaching to your main box just wire it the same colour as what's already there when you have your router not running from the main phone line box you could have a drop in speed why not go with a wi-fi router and leave it where it is?

i've done something similar with phone / ethernet cables on account of mrs P forbidding me from messing up the plastering in the living room

only thing i'd advise is, get telephone cable that's specifically designed for outdoor use. sky / aerial cables are usually ok for exterior since they're designed for this type of use but standard phone cable will last no time outside.

exterior grade phone cable is cheaply available on ebay, altho if you don't wish to enter the zoo that ebay has become there are plenty of etailers selling such cable by the mertre.

eg: a quick google turned up this http://www.tradingdepot.co.uk/DEF/pr...!EXTERNALBT!!/

not sure if B&Q do it altho i'm fairly certain they don't. i know maplin sell it but my opinion on maplin is..whilst it is a cavern of lovely shiny things and a mecca for the likes of myself, its usually vastly overpriced
if it ain't broke...fix it till it is

Don't forget to seal around the cables new entry point (& bung up the old hole!) - when we had Sky installed the guy used some kind of silicon sealant, seems to have lasted pretty well.
