    Quick POP3/IMAP security question.

    If SSL/TLS is used for POP3/IMAP is the password also sent encrypted?

    Short answer is yes.

    Once the SSL / TLS session is established your mail server will then go about its normal operation i.e. requesting username / password etc.

    Thanks, I wasn't sure if it handled authentication before establishing a TLS tunnel.
