    AMD Experts please? Memory question.

    I have a AMD Phenom x4.

My motherboard is a m4a79xtd evo, i would like to know if this memory is compatible.

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/191178

Also will it make a big performance difference to my current standard DDR3 1333mhz 9-9-9-24 CL9?

    Many Thanks.

I would assume that would work.

As for performance improvement, it might be measurable, but I doubt it will be vast or noticable in day to day situations.

Should be; but If it isn't then send it back. I presume you mean a PhenomII?

I don't really see the point in upgrading to the ram you listed. You may be better off either overclocking your northbridge or your CPU.

Re: AMD Experts please? Memory question.

If it's gaming then spend more money on your graphics card and less money on your RAM, especially as corsair RAM tends to be expensive.

I take it you have a Phenom II 965, when I had a Phenom II 955, it worked better with 1333mhz CL6 RAM than it did with 1600mhz CL7. If you've already got 1333mhz CL9 RAM then I don't really advise you to upgrade as it'll be simple be money wasted as you'd barely get a 2% increase in FPS in games at most.

Re: AMD Experts please? Memory question.

If you're looking for RAM for gaming then there's not really any such thing. The graphics card and CPU does most, if not all, the work when gaming. As long as you have enough memory, the FPS with will not change with "better" RAM.

Believe it or not but AMD platforms actually run better with lower speeds but tighter timing RAM so it would actually be better to get 1333mhz and CL7. However, in reality you should look to get the cheapest as the difference is minimal like I said.

    Anyway:
    Crucial Ballistix 4GB 1333mhz 7-7-7-20 £87.32

-or if you want to waste money-

    G-Skill 4GB 1600mhz 7-8-7-24 £100.90
