    Thumbs down network issue

I have a wireless router wired to two XP desktops. The printer is wired to one of the XP machines. I print with the other XP tower via networking.
I bought a new wireless windows 7 laptop, as well as a wireless printer.
I want to connect the new printer to the router with the printer's RJ-45 Ethernet
interface. The 2 XP towers will remain connected to the router.
Can I access the printer with the wireless lap?
Will I be able to print and access the internet with the 2 XP machines as before?
Are there additional steps to take for this to work?
    Regards, Bernie.

    Re: network issue

    Should be fine.

Just need to plug the printer in, make sure it is configured properly for ethernet usage, then install it on the computers.

Go to add a printer, choose a Local Printer (not a network printer), then create a new port - TCP/IP. Type in the IP address of the printer, and install it. Then you should be done. I would also recommend setting the printer up with a static/reserved IP via the router's configuration page, if you can.

The network printer option can work, I've just tended to have trouble with it so I try to stick with the local option where possible.
