    Lost email... :(

I use Googlemail, and receive it to my home pc via Outlook.

Checked my emails today, and there are only THREE from the whole of 2010 (just from the last 2 days), when a few days ago I know there were hundreds!
All my email from 2009 and earlier are still there AND thankfully all my emails (incl 2010) are still on the web based Googlemail.
None are in my deleted email folder which I haven't empied for a few weeks at least.

So the question is... where did they go??!!
Would it have archived them somewhere?
If I deleted them by mistake (unlikely) they would be in my deleted folder wouldn't they?

If they have gone permanently... is there an easy way to resend them to Outlook from the web based Googlemail, without opening each one and forwarding?

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.

Did you use IMAP or POP3?

if it was imap they would still be in the gmail bin, swap to imap, you will be used to it in a few days

imap instructions are in the settings section of the web client.

    Re: Lost email... :(

Curious. If they're on web-google-mail you're not using POP3, as that deletes them from the server when it gets them, so it sounds like you're already using IMAP. Good start.

If they're on web-google-mail that also means that you haven't deleted them, otherwise they'd have been deleted on the servers and wouldn't be in web-google-mail, so that's also a start.

Which suggests that it's a display problem in Outlook rather than a problem with the emails. I think my first step would be to find an email I can see in web-google-mail but can't see on Outlook, that has a distinctive phrase in it, then search Outlook for that phrase. If it finds something then the emails are just hidden somewhere, rather than deleted. If that doesn't work I'd probably think about trying to re-synchronise the folders in Outlook, but off the top of my head I'm afraid I don't know how to do that...

    Re: Lost email... :(

IMAP doesn't delete emails on gmail, just archives them.
