Headset Repair, Advice on replacing Audio+Mic Jacks

I have since replaced these but I want to get this old pair, working again.
    Creative HS-450 Stereo Gaming Headset

    Input/Output Plugs: 3.5mm gold-plated stereo plug x 2

The audio and mic jacks have been ripped off and I have since lost the jacks, dont ask how it happened, I'm not sure either.

(4 wires: Red, Blue, Green, Plastic White wire with copper wires surrounding it)

    I have a soldering iron.
Anyone know of a step by step guide I can follow

EDIT: I guess I will need some spare jacks, know any good places?

Well from the picture above, the individual wires are not insulated using the barrier plastic method, but rather, the insulation is "painted on". With a little heat. I have now burned the paint off and I can now see the copperwire underneath.

Still I'm unsure which points I need to solder.

I'm having trouble tinning the soldering iron tip, it just wont stick. Due to oxidation of the tip
I have read and concluded that I should either use:

-flux powder (can anyone recommend one?)
-sand it down (mixed views on this)
    -use wet sponge (didn't work)

Re: Headset Repair, Advice on replacing Audio+Mic Jacks

Get a replacement tip, they're inexpensive. In the mean time you can file or sand down the tip, it will tarnish very quickly if you don't keep it clean with a wet sponge or tinned when it's hot, keep a thin layer of solder on the tip when you're using it to keep the tip from going bad.

Wires could be anything tbh, the copper will be the earth...
Can you crack open the headphone end and see what colour they are there?
