    Question AM3 cooler recommendation

A new system I will building soon will use:

    AMD Phenom II X4 965
    Asus Crosshair IV Formula
    Corsar Vengeange

Could anybody recommend a good (and preferably quiet) AM3 HSF that won't block any RAM slots or anything else important? I keep running into this problem often when hunting around.

    Thanks.

Hyper 212+, should be about £15 on play and scan have it on offer alot. You just need to make it uses a mounting bracket instead of a clip iirc so you can position it front to back instead of having to go up/down. Why not get blingless ram? you will be ocing on the multiplier anyway and then you're sure your cooler will fit..

If you are going to splash the cash on a mobo the intel route looks more appealing. Unless of course you need all those PCIe slots.

    Re: AM3 cooler recommendation

I would recommend the V8. I use it on my Phenom II x4 965 with an O.C to 3.9 GHz and I am getting temps of between 33-38 degrees.

It may product a bit of a problem if you are going to be using some kind of aftermarket cooling on your RAM tho.
(Sorry just noticed which RAM you are planning to use, saying that the V8 might cause a problem fitting them in.)

Think I saw it on SCAN a couple of days ago for around 25-30 quid if cost is not an issue.
