    MSI P55-GD65 Beep Codes

    Hi,

My system has been working fine for the last year, but all of a sudden, the system will not POST and I see no display from my graphics card.

On switching on the power, after a couple of seconds the system makes one long beep and two short beeps.

I can't find info on translating these beeps on MSI's website or in the manual, anyone have any ideas? Spec as follows:

    PSU: Corsair HX520W (18A on 12V rail)
    CPU: Core i7 860
    RAM: 2x 2GB G.skill Ripjaw (ddr3-1600 cl 7-8-7-24, 1.65v)
GPU: Powercolor Radeon HD 5770 1GB

Any help would be massively appreciated!

Have you tried a different GPU and using only one stick of RAM at a time?

Of course try reseating everything just in case something has come loose.

I have a near identical system (see specs) and never heard any beeps.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Yeah tried different combinations of memory, with no luck. Unfortunately don't have a spare pci-e card to try at the mo.

    Thanks

    Re: MSI P55-GD65 Beep Codes

Hi, MSI uses the AMI BIOS, as you may have guessed one long beep and two short beeps = An error was encountered in the video BIOS ROM, or a horizontal retrace failure has been encountered (http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/amibeep.htm#). This suggests that your vcard has suffered a failure, if you have a suitable gfx card, you may be able to flash the rom Or you maybe able to make a claim if it is still under warrentee.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice and you were correct, it was the gpu.
