    CPU core question

I have an AMD Phenom II X4 965 on an Asus Crosshair IV Formula. CPU-Z does indicate 4 cores. Does this mean using the Asus Core Unlocker is unnecessary? As i'm assuming all 4 cores are in use.

    Thanks.

P.S. How do you upload an avatar? I just keep getting this:

    Re: CPU core question

The 'core unlocker' feature is to help to unlock disabled cores on the dual and triple core CPU's. It won't be needed for your CPU.

    Re: CPU core question

The Core unlocker is to try to unlock more cores on a 2/3 core chip - these chips are often perfectly functional 4 core chips with a number of cores disabled either to make up numbers or because they are faulty (in which case the unlock will fail) or don't meet specs, for example they may draw too much power in order to reach a specified clock speed. Your CPU is 4 core so all the cores are already available so yes, it's unnecessary.

You can't upload an avatar until you get a few hundred posts IIRC, check out the stickys.
