I have a non-overclocked FP-IN9 with E6600 running 100% fine for some years.
Now I got a new Q9550 cpu and want to replace the old E6600 by this one.
I updated the bios to version 17 (the latest official one in the site), replaced cpus and cleared cmos.
After power on (with crossed fingers) I was able to entry in the BIOS setup and after some seconds (varying from 10 to 60 seconds) the machine freeze when still inside the BIOS setup.
After sadly reducing the fsb to 1067 MHz ( Q9550 is 1333 MHz ) I was able to start Windows XP installation but got BSoD in the middle of installation. Same thing to Ubuntu (Linux).
For this MB, I see (somewhere) in this forum a link to bios version 18 despite the official site STILL report the last bios update is version 17. Does this means version 18 is too bad to officially be considered an upgrade over version 17 ?
Is there a chance FP-IN9 starts to work with Q9550 if I update to version 18 ?
Are there any special information ( core voltages or anything else ) I need to be aware to make such cpu upgrade ?
Thank you
Marcio
