Nooooo!!!!! Help Me!!!

I should have relized there was a problem when IE would not start! But now I cant even open my computer or any folder via the start menu! HELP! What can I do! I need to copy my documents before I reinstal windows! How else can I open a folder? Also I cant open the control panel!

Edit I just backed up my documents via the backup wizard! But I'd still like to fix instead of reinstaling!

Edit 2: I had run Spy sweeper two days ago! I just ran it now and it found 22 Softwares and 48 traces! HOW? I have a fierwall and antivirus! And yes its up to date! I have instaled nothing new, or even downloaded anything...

Edit 3: I just Killed a bunch of crap with taskmanager... I now can accsess my computer! But I can not run like this!!! I fell as if my firewall is not cuting it.. any sugestions on what to us other then norton?

you simply CAN NOT BROWSE THE INTERNET WITH INTERNET EXPLORER AND NOT PICK UP CRAP. internet explorer will install all and any spyware that asks it for permission, without any intervention. no firewall will save you, no antivirus wil save you. your only option is to use another web browser - even CERT, one of the largest security advisory groups, has thrown up its hands and said "screw IE, it sucks".

you need to run through ad-aware, spybot search and destroy, and cwshreder to try and regain some control of your pc, but this will happen AGAIN AND AGAIN if you persist in using internet explorer.

more helpfully, if you can post a COMPLETE list of applications set to run on startup (start, run, msconfig, startup tab), screenshots being easiest, then we can try and identify the dangerous elements to diable. bear in mind that you have to press the reset key if you're disabling spyware, you can't shut down windows (windows sends a "shutting down, all runnign applications please respond" command on shutdown, spyware will automatically ensure its own survival when it receives this warning).

I was using Fire fox... I used IE very little.. I have 48 process running and I decided to Format! At least I still have my 7 gigs of mp3s...

Firefox picks up more crap than IE at the moment for me! By a long way! Very strange i know!
