Thread: Display Problems

    Display Problems

    System as in sig. Am round a friends and have borrowed one of his Dell 17" TFT displays. I have tried both the latest Catalyst and Omega drivers, but upon booting up I get serious corruption on the Windows XP Login screen and it freezes and crashes.

    Any ideas? Need more info, let me know. Cheers guys.

    Really not sure what happened with it. Re-installed WinXP and loaded the Omega drivers and it worked fine. Installed drivers for my motherboard chipset and the graphics got corrupted again. Went into Safe Mode and removed them and now it's working perfectly...

    Strange one...

    Yeah, hms..seems quite strange I don't really know why..I guess you'll have an answer from someone here in time . Just wanted to say that it was good everything turned out well.

    well assuming that it was working fine with the motherboard chipset drivers before and then went titty up for no reason that would not suggest it as being the chipset drivers as the cause but a possible sympton of a hardware failure

    btw you should install motherboard drivers before any other drivers !

    This is a sort of known issue with the nforce driver packages...they have a habit of installing over the Ati display drivers (think it's the onboard gfx driver that does it) - caused me to format once as well. Best way to avoid is, as has already been pointed out - install mobo drivers first.

    But the comp as it was had a fresh installation and I always install mobo drivers first to get sound and network up and running. That install didn't work for some reason.

    Anyway's it's all ok now. Sort of. Eve keeps booting me out every now and then... even on 1024x768.
