most likely the memory will botch your display like this.

Ground yourself from static.. Take the ram out carefully. Give it the 'magic blow' that you do on games cartridges when they used to exist and got borked. Reseat it.

    Try the power again.

Then the next likely candidate is the graphics card. My computer did this the other day After I moved it for a LAN party. its a pain. But if the bootup sounds o.k. the chances are nothing is truely fooked.

I got the same symptoms after my overclocking shenanigans last year and learnt my lesson the hard way!
I returned the pc to base under warranty and they replaced the processor and then the motherboard, but in your case wiping the bios should work like OiD said

my advice is to ensure that your ATX connector from the power supply to the motherboard is secure,

Then, check all IDE cables are secure. If your hdd light is permanantly on, try unplugging and replugigng it.

You say that you added a new drive? we talking cd rom drive? floppy? hard drive?

If you are unsure how to wipe your bios as advised earlier, on your motherboard youll see a small battery the size of a 10p piece, simply take it out for at least 15 mins. (With pc off), then put it back in and boot

Err - hdd light continually on - no boot?

Sounds like your IDE cables might plugged in the wrong way round Not too common nowadays because connectors are more often than not keyed now - but possible.

Try removing all your drive connectors from the motherboard, see if the computer boots. If it does, you can start plugging them in again, and pin down the fault.

    Just an idea
Now go away before I taunt you a second time.
