    Unhappy Lannage Problems

I was just about to have a good day of lannage today. My mate comes over, just about ready to start playing, I find that my machine will not see any games on the network

I've never had any problems with my network before (its a pair of machines on a 10/100/1000 Intellinet Switch. Its all running at 100Mbs anyway. It worked on Tuesday, but then on Thursday nothing works. LO:MAC, DOD, HL, CS, UT2004, IL2, you name it, it don't work.

I looked at the console of DoD while I tried (and failed) to set up a working serve and I saw a bit of text I have never seen before:
WARNING: UDP_OpenSocket: port: 27015 socket: NO ERROR WARNING: UDP_OpenSocket: port: 27005 socket: NO ERRORWARNING: UDP_OpenSocket: port: -1 socket: NO ERRORWARNING: UDP_OpenSocket: port: 27025 socket: NO ERRORWarning! Couldn't allocate multicast IP port.
I'm guessing it is something todo with ports not being either opened or allocated?
I am baffled by this and I have ZoneAlarm but even when I disable it it still won't work.
Really really need your help on this guys

    Hmm weird.

If your on the lan - it really shouldnt be a ports issue from the router or switch - you should have complete access to each others machines.

Ensure zone alarm is turned of on both machines for a strt.

Make sure windows firewall or any other firewall is turned off.

make sure your both on the same subnet.........

Can you ping your mates machine and vice versa
can you access a shared folder on your mates machine and vive versa.
just a few things to get started ^^^

Yeah, I know what your saying.

I've only got Zonealarm on one machine anyway and it doesn't work with it on or off

I'm pretty sure we are on the same subnet, it just the one windows automatically puts in 255.255.255.0 I think

Very weird problem this, I can ping any other machines on the network and they can ping me. And I can also get into their shared documents and share files. It only seems to happen in games

    Any more ideas?

Nahh, no routers, we only have dial up so we have that on the individual machines.
It used to work on Tuesday as I said, and then on wednesday evening I noticed LOMAC wouldn't work, then realised nothing would work.
If I can't sort it it looks like i'm gonna have to format my machine, again

I have also tried different network cards aswell, but it still doesnt fix it.
I'm thinking there is their an option or button somewhere that needs to be enabled/disabled to allow multicast ip to work.
I tried with the Gigabit Intel built in LAN of my IC7-Max3 and I tried with a 10/100 Netgear NIC card but neither would let me host or join games
    Any more ideas?
