    Radeon 9700 installation issues

    Hi there,

Im having serious issues upgrading my Club 3d 9600pro to a Hercules 9700. Although the card is detected correctly with both the primary and secondary components showing drivers installed the primary gives an error "device Cannot Start" (code 10).

Ive removed all traces of the drivers using driver cleaner 2, installed the latest cats, ensured that fast writes are OFF in the bios, tried various AGP settings in the BIOS but all to no avail. If I plug the 9600pro back in it works perfectly. The 9700 was taken from a working system so its pretty much "known good". Ive even underclocked the CPU to make sure that the card isnt lacking juice from the PSU.

Any ideas, this is driving me @#$#%#$%* nuts!

you've plugged in the psu socket into the card right ?

what is your spec of your pc ? maybe its not enough juice ?

try uninstalling drivers / run drive cleaner 3 in safe mode

    then put new card in

reboot and hope for the best ?

Ive gone as far as too connect the card up to a seperate PSU so thats not the problem. Ill give the updated Driver Cleaner a go though as the v2 was pretty much useless, I found ati dll's and registry entries even after running it in safe mode.

Unfortuantly as I have a SATA drive and no floppy reinstalling XP would be a serious headache.

Does sound like the card don't like your system to me....
Usually power issues I've found with 9700's, but you ain't got anything else that needs juice from a floppy cable have you?
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
