Unhappy Shuttle will not install Windows

I put together my first shuttle this morning but I have a big problem. I have successfully booted the computer using my windows xp disc, I have gone through the partition setup and the inital compying of files required for installation, but once it starts to 'install files' it says 39 minutes remaining and the green symbols in the bottom right corner of the screen flash but only for about a minute. After that one green symbol stays lit and the others remain un-lit. The time remaining stays at 39 minutes. Basically nothing happens. I have done this several times and every time it gets a minute into installing files and then stops.

    My spec is:
    Shuttle SN45G v2
    Athlon XP-M 2500
    512MB Crucial PC3200 RAM
    120GB Seagate Hard Drive (2MB)
    Radeon 9800 Pro
    Samsung CDRW/DVD Combo
    Windows XP Pro

Can anyone suggest something which might be causing this? Anything I should check for in order to diagnose the problem? Any help is very gratefully received.

Are you overclocked? How are your temps? What are your RAM timings set like? Tried another CDROM drive? Is everything seated correctly? Cards, connectors, etc. You'll be able to check all but the last two things in your BIOS.

If anything I'm underclocked. I initally began installing windows with the fsb at 200 and the multiplier at 6. When the problem occured I tried it at 100 fsb and 6 multiplier but it still froze at the same point.

I left it running in bios and cpu temp never went above 44degC, thats not high is it?

I have not touched RAM timings so they are at default, I'll check exactly what they are set to in a minute.

GFX Card is seated securely, as is RAM, cant think of anything else to check..

I haven't tried another CD Drive, will give that a go, but its a brand new drive and it seemed fine until this point.

Thank you for the suggestions, anyone else have any ideas what it might be?

I have now tried it with my old DVD drive. No improvement, infact it froze even earlier.

I checked my memory timings, they are:
    T(RAS) 8
    T(RCD) 3
    T (RP) 3
    CAS LATENCY 3.0

Does that mean anything to anyone?

Two other things I have noticed but am unsure of the relevance of are:
-frequently, though not every time, when i restart it boots up once, the loading bios screen comes up for a split second, and then it restarts again, the second time it loads all the way through, is this indicative of a certain issue?
-theres a line in my BIOS that says "x CPU VCore Above 1.85V" is that too high? As my chip is a 2500 mobile and so i think its meant to run at 1.65V...

Your help is very much appreciated as I am totally stuck at the moment after spending a load of money

    1. Is it a proper copy of Windows?
    2. Are you using two memory dimms? (if so try removing one of the dimms and if necessary try swapping them around, I have found this to work before)
    3. Have you run memtest86 on your memory?

At a guess I would say it is to do with the cpu being an XP-m and not being recorgnised properly, maybe look for bios update with cpu support for xp-m's or you could install with another cpu installed and swap over to xp-m and see what happends, had similar probs when trying to use a xp on an old Iwill mobo that didn't recornise it correctly.

yeah as stated above try diffrent mem if possible, try a diff xp disc (for testing) reset the jumpers on the mb and set the bios to fail safes... also check for bios updates... could be a issue that is fixed...
