Question XP home. 1 disc, 2 computers?

Hi, My questions is, can i use an xp home disc (with sp2 on it) with a computer that i intend to build when i have already used it on my main computer. The new computer i intend to build would have all new parts in it so mobo, ram, hddr, gfx card etc... Could i use my disc that i have already used on my other computer to set up and install on my 'intended' new build. Thanks a lot any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, john

    basically, no

if you're lucky, it'll install & let you update one of them to latest.

but it's unlicensed, illegal, and will probably lock you out if you try to update both within quick succession

Ok so if you have a Proper Key you should be able to do this ,my win xp pro has been installed registered/activated in more that 6 or 7 computers and nothing has ever been said ever , but you will have to activate over the phone bt i have never had any problems.

    hm, misunderstood the question slightly.

didn't realise one machine was going to replace the other.

you technically have the 30-day window for product activation - if you install it on machine 2, then format machine 1 within 30 days, then activate machine 2 after machine 1 is no longer using that windows license, you should be okay
