Sata Hard drive

Today my NEC 3500 came, changed my old cd burner with it turned the pc on. This happened, the pc booted up until the windows log on screen, a click noise then the pc just turns off (not shut down). I think it’s the same noise as when it overheats and turns itself off. So I check the bios and the sata 160Gb Maxtor drive isn't recognized. The temperature is fine (35 degrees). This pc has been running for a about 3 months, has anyone got an idea.

have you tryed changing the jumper settings et if its on master then change it to slave etc etc

You don't have jumpers with SATA drives. Lol.

Dunno what to suggest besides trying different computers, different SATA slots, etc

me dont have one never really needed one but just thought i would do norm suggestions for ide.
