    Computer Won't Boot Up

After my CPU decided to blow up, I got a new Mobile Barton from CPUCity, and stuck it in with a new Thermaltake Volcano 12. When I try to boot up the PC, the fans spin, but no beeps from the motherboard. I tested the graphics card in another machine so that's fine, and I tried both of the RAM sticks by themselves. Also, when I completely removed the RAM, it beeped liked it's supposed to. I've taken everything non-essential out, so any ideas as to the cause of the problem?

    Cheers

Already tried that, the motherboard is an NF7-S, and the former CPU was a Barton 2500+.

Same swap I made a while back - only change was to reset cmos and away it went. Everything else works so I would look at rma'ing the cpu. The fact that the fans spin but nowt else happens (and the fact that everything else works) would indicate to me that its knacked.

    try the old cpu
After my CPU decided to blow up..
It's probably the mobo, because i'm running on a new cpu.

Sorry I couldn't help, it look likes it's the motherboard or CPU, since we tested the graphics, and it's unlikely both of the RAM sticks have failed.

My guess is that the BIOS has gone, but you can never be sure!

It's a bit hard - you could probably try swapping in a BIOS from another identical motherboard, although that might be risky.

Don't have one handy, nor would i trust myself to attempt it What i really need is some kinda checklist to prove whether or not my mobo is screwed up so i can fix as quickly as possible.

Costs next to nothing for another NF7-S rev2 these days, even if you get another you'll be able to flog it on if it wasn't the problem, as they're quite sought after.

Problem is that what little money I have is already being saved for other things- is there any way i can find out if it's bios-related without having another mobo present?

I agree with nimbu, I just lent an 800MHz thunderbird to a mate thats' system turned out to be non-functional due to the processor. Temporary lend'age whilst he buys a new one . Good luck!

Just incase... Have you made sure you have left the the jumper in the reset CMOS position long enough to take effect?
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

Left it for about two minutes most times - is that long enough?
