    120g HD only showing as 31.4g

    hello
    just installed a 120g HD and in windows its only showing as a 31.4g.Have I done sometrhing wrong on the instal.I've ran the maxtor big drive software but still only 31g.Any ideas where Ive went wrong

    If you havent got any important information try reformatting it via windows, if not then get in touch with maxtor...

    Have a look at the jumpers on the back of the drive. Once I put one in the wrong place and I think it limits it to 32Gb.

    I did the same as mark, its a jumper problem, not software. Just move it around and it'll be fine

    Yes you're all right,it was the 32 gig jumper cap which is now removed and the HD is now working fine.thanks
