200gb HDD showing as 127gb problem

    Hey guys and girls,

i read about this problem a long time ago as it affected me but never did anything about it because space wasn't much of an issue back then, but now i'm getting into my video editing properly again and need the space. i search the forum and found this thread which explains my problem and sure enough i have an unallocated 58gb partition in disk management. but my question is this, how can i get around having 2 partitions and just have 1?

You could probably merge them using a partition tool.

A fresh install of SP2 might work as well if you only recently did your install and don't mind going over it again.

Go to Maxtor and download yourself the big drive enabler patch.

thanks guys, will the maxtor download work though, considering i have a western digital hard drive, also if it is needed info, using an Abit ic7 mobo and xp pro. sorry if it seems like i'm being overly cautious about going ahead, its just that i've put many hours into some of these videos and dont want to loose the projects from me doing something wrong.

The Maxtor download will not kill your drive (its just a generic patch that allows SP1 and prior to see the drive - a non issue in your case). But I doubt it will merge the partitions.
