i need to buy a graphics card for christmas and i just wanted 2 no which is the best 1 i can get for £160 it has 2 play game like doom 3 in high quality

Nvidia 6800 is close to that price range in AGP, otherwise ATI 9800 Pro should also work. If you are looking at PCI Express you can save a few more dollars as this is normally a less costly card. Again it's all pending how you define high quality.

For that kind of money, and with Doom 3 specifically in mind, you might want to take a look into getting a GeForce 6600GT. Vanilla 6800s might also be worth a look, but if I remember correctly they come in above the money you are looking to spend.
