    Warranty help needed

    Hi Guys

Ivejust bought/traded a laptop from a user of a forum. Now there looks like theres a problem with the tft ( big smudge type marks in the middle as if its been crushed) as well as a non working backlight when on full power.

If I were to sign up to Fujitsu Siemens and purchase a warranty would they repair it ?

    probably not
    1) if it is damage rather a fault
    2) if it is a pre-existing condition that would usually invalidate most aftermarket warranties.

If the seller says it was OK when it left him anyway that you could claim from the carrier for damage in transit?

They would probably repair it, but not for free under warranty. I would assume that it would be classed as CID (customer induced damage) and charge you £400 for a new TFT panel.

The backlight is probably the inverter board and a relatively cheap component to replace.
