What that is doing is repairing and restoring the system registry due to a problem being encountered / created by something running on the system. Did it start happening shortly after you installed something or done a driver update ?

What I would do is boot into safemode first (Press F5 after the bios screen before the Windows XP loading screen shows, this boots into safemode) do a full virus scan not ommiting any file types at all (make sure the definitions are up to date) whilst in safemode.

Also in safemode I would run a full ad check on the system, for this I personally recommend Ad Aware SE, you can get it from downloads.com or direct from Lavasoft (once again make sure the definitions are up to date).

Other than that check the memory timings on you're system as overclocked memory / processor etc can cause problems like this in Windows.

Give it a shot and let me know how you get on.
