Hi!
I've only ever had to deal with a virus on my pc once or twice in my 7yrs on the net. Those occasions have been simple to deal with after downloading one program or another from the symantec webby.
ANyway, the long and the short of it is that I switched my pc on, connected to the net and bang!, I get a virus alert. A virus named "Bloodhound.packed" has infected a file SYSCFG32.exe.
I gather from the symantec site that this virus name is a generic one given to unkown virii that are detected using its bloodhound heurstics (whatever that may be)
I cannot repair the file, or quarantine it. So, any advice on how to proceed? Is SYSCFG32.exe a bonafide XP file? Can I just simply delete the file and be on my way? Or is a complete reinstall needed?
Any help would be great!
Ed
[Edit] After googling the filename it seems either this file is a popular target for virii or else is a file placed there by the virus.....
