Double check the motherboard manual and see what slots they recommend the ram to go in. Sometimes its bank 2 & 3 (some of the Abit boards require this). The 2700 ram I believe is the 333 (Cant remember off the top of my head at the mo, bit late !, 166x2 giving effective speed of 333) frequency, make sure its set right in the bios and also that the Cas is set right. My ram is Cas 2.5 and DDR 333 (166 set to in bios) if I have it set incorrect it just messes up big time.

Also what is you're FSB on the processor, if its a different speed to the ram it can occasionally cause some minor problems. Mines ok as I have a Barton core that is also 333 so it runs alongside the ram nicely. If you have a processor that is at 266 FSB then it may be worthwhile to actually knock the ram speed back in the bios so that it runs alongside the processor. Most boards now will allow different speed FSB and ram, older board and you may experience these problems.

Have you got the additional 12 Volt ATX connector attached to you're motherboard (small square shaped one) helps make sure the CPU gets a steady flow of juice.

Finally make sure you have the newest bios available for the motherboard, upgraded mine as on the ASrock site one of the updates included better support for the 96xx series cards (think I mentioned this already !? )

Just a few extra pointers you can look into, if you want / need to flash the bios make sure you get the right file for you're board (Gigabyte usually put a utility on the cd you get with the board that does the bios upgrade for you through Windows) Worthwhile taking a look into that. If you have to do it manually and are unsure give me a shout and I will take you through it as wrong flash program and bios will kill the board completely. Not saying you dont know how to do this already, but some people arnt sure about bios updates etc and I dont mind helping out where I can.

Thanks agin ferral. I have the latest bios, but I may flash back donw to f5 or f6 if these problems cant be resolved. Yeah, the cpu and ram are running in sync 166(333) and it's a barton. Thanks for the pointers, I will let you know how it ends up. John

Yeah, definately go with you on that one. You've tried literally everything else. Before that though if you have a spare vga card lying about stick it in and install drivers etc and see if you experience the same problems. If so need to start looking down different alleys.

I'd start with just trying 1 stick of ram at a time in the system and see if you still experience the same probs, if it only happens with one of the sticks of ram in you have nailed the prob. Process of elimination basically.

I have no spare card that will play counter strike source unfortunately, that I can use to test this. IM still getting the blue and green checkerboards in cs:s even on 4x agp. I have it all running at standard still. Umm I will give the ram test a go. I'm thinking that It could probably be my motherboard or my grafics card. Thanks ferral, update soon

Half-life 2 textures are coming out green and black and blue and every colour imaginable. I guess thats to be expected seeing as source uses the same engine. Just a quick question, Has anybody else experienced problems like this, I'm afraid that if I send it back to e-buyer, they won't indentify a problem and I won't be refunded and can't buy a 6600gt. Thanks, John.

I get purple and green checkboards in CS:S when I don't have the correct textures. Maybe your download/install disk is damaged? Re-download the game.

I'm getting the same kind of problems in 3dmark 05, so advanced textures must be causing errors witrh my card, plus the fact that im having to run it at 4x because it doesnt like 8x, I think there is a case for a refund. Oh by the way, could somebody give me an expalnation of how to post pictures because i have an example of whats happening to the textures. Somebody told me I need some webspace to upload it to, but I can't find any free..help, thanks, John.

You need to get a bit of free webspace and upload the pics to that, then just post the link to the pics. Possibly get a free bit of space from somewhere like Tiscali or Yahoo, just look for free hosting
