    cdrom diagnostics?

    I have a very flaky cdrom/rw drive which hangs up when burning discs, usually at the lead-in/lead-out stage. It has become progressively worse over the last year or so, to the extent that I have now replaced it. However, before consigning it to the bin I would like to find out what's wrong with it. Does anyone know of a good diagnostics programme that I could download? Also, do laser lens cleaners really work?

    To test your burner, you can try CDSpeed form Nero. (Freeware)

    Drives are very cheap these days, so it's up to you if you think it's worth the bother.

    Lens Cleaners do work, but if the problem lays elsewhere, then obviously it won't do much.

    Yes, but I usually get extreme and take the things apart to clean them.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
