    chronicles of riddick demo problem

    system specs:
    athlon xp 3000+
    nvidia geforcefx 5200 128mbs
    1ghz ddr memory

When I play the demo, it is very choppy(even on 800x600 res.). I checked system requirments and I more than meet them. I want to buy this game, but not if it does this.

Check your shader level, your graphics card is low end for this game so you should turn off all shaders, and shadows. turn down pixel count as well etc.

Yeah, its you're graphics card that is making this one choppy mate, FX series in general wasnt outstanding unfortunately. Riddick needs a bit more power than a 5200 card to run it. Possibly look into an upgrade to something like a Rad 9600 Pro or even 9800 Pro as you can get them both for under £100 now.

If you could spend a bit more go for the XFX 6600 GT card, really nice card and is extremely good value for money.

Other than that you will find to get Riddick running nicely with what you have (as previously mentioned) knock everything down to low detail settings etc

Yeah i agree with Ferral on this one i'm afraid.

Riddick is a pretty shader intensive game and unfortunatly your trusty FX5200 is just not up to playing this game ( the way its meant to be played anyway!!!) I agree on getting the Geforce 6660GT this is probably one of the best price/performance cards on the market at the moment.

As mentioned in the previous posts you could turn down all the detail settings and resolution but it then becomes not a very enjoyable gaming experience and defeats the object of buying this very good looking game

    Thanks
