    New computer

    Hi,
    I have got 2 new computers one is 541 3.2ghz intel, 512mb, 160gb and the other is 630 3.0 ghz intel, 1024mb, 250gb .
The 3.0ghz computer seems to hang on some programs for slight while, I thought the 3.0ghz would be same or slightly faster as it had 2mb of cache than the 3.2ghz?

Also it has only been one day with the new computers when i turned off the 3.0ghz computer in the night, there was a burning smell. Is this meant to happen with new computers? I turned it on this morning can't smell the burning smell now, do you thing something is wrong with the computer?
Bby the way both computers are dell.

    Thanks for any advice

The burning smell is probably the PSU - they make that smell when they get hot - shouldn't be a problem I'd hope

As for the PC's - the 3.0GHz on should be faster as it has the 1024mb RAM ( I think thats what you meant). However - the 3.2GHz one will still be pretty fast if they had the same RAM may be faster as clock speeds are higher (though I'm no Intel expert)

If the PC was brand new there is every chance that it will smell as the components heat up for the first time, and it can last a day or two in some cases.

The only thing im not so sure about is that with the PC's being Dell they should have been 'run in' at the factory in which case i wouldnt expect there to be a smell.
