Nvidia GF 6800LE Performance issues

hey peeps, this is my first post on this board, hope you can gimme a hand with this gfx card problem.

The basic issue is the poor performance of the card, particuarily in half-life 2. I previously had a rad 9800PRO and was able to run HL2 decently (50+ FPS) in high settings 1024res.

But now with the new card Leadtek A400 6800LE i am experiencing far lower FPS (20-40 in combat) sometimes even lower.

I softmodded the card using rivatuner, sucessfully unlocking all pipes with no artifacts (16x1,6vp). so the card should be performing much better than stock - which is reflected in the benchmarks i've done.

with the card overclocked to a stable 380/800 and all 16pipes and 6 shaders it scores 3518 on 3dmark 2005.

i get 10299 in 3dm03.

which is why i cannot understand why its performing so bad in HL2.

i am using winxp sp2, forceware 78.01, dx9.

my specs: 2.5ghz p4, 1024mb 3200 ram, 533 FSB.

i have been trying to solve this issue for the past couple of days, i fully cleaned off the old ATI drivers. i have tried the card with all stock setting (8x1,4vp 300/700) but still to no avail - bad performance still in hl2.

any suggestions peeps?

Well done with the card btw, i know its a great feeling when those pipes open. Are all the quality settings the same, no AA etc?

ye the settings are the same, AA and AF is set to Application controlled. vsync is allways off and i have turned off fast writes. do these settings sound right to you?

i really am quite stumped with this issue. i have tested the card on all stock settings 300/700 8x1,vp4. i get a lower benchmark score but same poor fps in hl2.

when overclocked to 380/810 16x1,vp6 i get a much better benchmark score (10299 in 3dm03) yet same bad fps in hl2. it makes no sense!

my old rad 9800pro run really nice in hl2, yet i know this new card is better, but am very disappointed with the hl2 fps. rrrrr help meh!

you say the AA/AF is aplication controled, it may be that with the 9800 half life doesnt set these as high as it does with your 6800
