Problem with my Kingston Data Traveller 1GB USB Stick

    Hi guys!

I bought a 1GB Kingston Data Traveller a while back on a today only special.

I had a few problems with data corruption on my disk. Sometimes entire directories would become corrupt (and directory size get displayed as multiple gigibytes):

Some of the other times it would just be word documents that got corrupt:

I contacted Scan a while back and got my stick RMA'd and got a new one as a replacement.

NOW, the problem is that the data corruption is still happening.

I mainly used the stick to transfer files between work (in a school) and home. The data corruption can happen in both places.

Systems at work - Viglin Contenders (P4 1.6ghz, 256MB Ram...)
    Systems at home:
    Main PC (sig)
    Laptop (Dell 2650 1.6Ghz P4M, 512MB, 20GB)

Just want to know if there's anything im doing wrong before I re-RMA.

    (Also posting in scan forum)

    Thanks in advance.

what operating systems are the computers running?

is your usb stick formated in NTFS?

    I know older operating systems(windows 95/98/ME) can't read NTFS.

    Thanks for the reply mate.

The PC @ work is Win2k and my lappy is XP home, and main PC is XP Pro.

If just had word back from the guys at scan and look like they'll be dealing with it now.

It appears that a batch of this product has been reported as counterfeit. Scan have been supplied this product by a reputable UK supplier. The product was purchased in good faith, however the goods received by Scan did not match the sample shown at the time of purchase and the sample testing used to release the stock proved to be satisfactory.

This is an embarrassing situation for Scan but we are working very closely with Kingston and Bolton Trading Standards in order to rectify this situation, and are currently arranging a recall on all of this batch of products. In addition to this, we are also prosecuting the supplier and doing whatever possible to resolve the issue.

Thank you for advising us of the problem you had. We are sorry to cause you any inconvenience.

I have passed your details to our returns team who will contact you on Monday to arrange a suitable replacement for this product.
