PC very slow since clean install

Hi please forgive my ignorance on this matter!

I did a clean install a few weeks ago and now my system is very slow when moving data, ie if i move large files from one partition to another it can take 4mins for a 1GB Rar file! Whereas before it done it a lot lot quicker I am wondering if its my Ram as I did add a £24 512 stick of Aria Ram to my 2x 128mb Nanya (specs below) Is there a test i can do to see what the problem is? I have installed PCWizard 2006 but it dont mean much to me as i dont know what i am looking for

Ps I dont know if this would cause the slow downs but i recently disabled quite a few Services as described in a OS Tweak guide to supposedly make it faster!

There is a simple way to test... Take the memory back out! This will confirm / deny your theory in minutes...

First time I made my computer ever (an older PC133-based computer) I had the same problem, it was REALLY slow after the OS install... turned out the cheap memory I used was faulty.

Re chipset drivers: In device manager it tells me they are installed! Sometimes my PCI 1394 card is recognised in Network connections and othertimes its just not there!..Its like its not installed! I also have a firewire on my Audigy 2 soundcard,whether thats causing it i really dont know!

The PC does Recognise all the RAM thats installed! When you say take memory out do you mean the newest stick and if it is the problem what will i look for apart from slowness The PC was fine the day before the Reformat,i thought it may have something to do with the new Firewall Prog i put in (Webroots Firewall Desktop)

Just because device manager say there are chipset drivers installed does not mean you have the right/best ones. You might just have some generic microsoft ones. Get the lasest chipset/IDE/etc drivers from you motherboard makers website.

I do have the latest chipset via the website,when i say latest they havent been updated in 2 yrs
