Dvd player

Hello,

A while ago i bought a dvd player. it worked fine all the way but the last time i tried to install a game it crashed and kept crashing. First it couldn't load the install screen and when i started the install manually it crashed half way saying it couldn't find file : pak007.pk4.

So I thought the dvd was the problem but when I tried to install a cd rom game on my dvd rom it gave the same errors. While I could install it on my cd rom player ( which i also have in my pc ) so it wasnt the quality of the cd/dvd.

So next I switched my dad's dvd burner with my dvd player and it gave exactly the same errors !

So what could be the cause of this and what could be the solution to my problem.

Duff cable perhaps? Scratched CDs?

Can't be scratched cd's since they do work in my cd rom drive. Don't think it's the cables either they're pretty new. But i could try switching them around. But aren't the dvd and cd rom cable on one line ?
