    dell dimension desktop which one

    Looking for a bit of help with the above.
    I need a new desktop for a small office single user and was going for the £199 dimension but when i go to the desktop pages i now find two others that i would like to compare to see which is the better machine i will be downgrading the warrenty to get a better deal

    You just need to decide what you want to do with the machine and go from there. If you're surfing the net and sending email then buy the cheapest one as it will do the job just fine.
    Next you have to decide if you want a DVD writer or a cd writer?
    Do you want a flat panel monitor or are you happy to use a CRT?
    XP will run with 256Mb of memory but don't expect miracles, it will however run much better with 512Mb.
    These systems seem to ship with 80gig drives and you'll never fill this if you are using it for office work so don't bother with anything bigger.
    If you can be more specific about what you want to do with teh machine then maybe we can find you the best solution.

    Thanks for the reply the machine will be used foroffice work and browsing the web i know about the basics it was just the processor spec (amd here).

    The basic 2.5GHz celeron chips are fine for office work, they're actually the equivalent of the older version of teh full blown P4 so you'll have no problems.
