    Can't kill process. Trojan virus.

    Hi,

Depite running a firewall and running AVG 24/7, I seem to have got hold of a Trojan, process is named "mssearchnet.exe".
What can I do to get rid of it? I think it must have come from one of my many USB attachments and crept in...
It isn't doing any harm yet, but definately needs to go!
    Tips, please?

Google confirms it as a trojan, but hasn't been much help to me other than that.
    AVG won't kill it, either.

    Hijack this.
Make it force delete the file. It will reboot your machine, then do it before windows fully loads.

Boot in Safe mode command line only and delete the file manually. There are a few files to delete in win/sys32/ if you sort your files by date, the files you need to delete will all be within minutes.
Easiest is to run a batch file
    cd c:\windows\system32\
    del c:\windows\system32\dfrgsrv.exe
    del c:\windows\system32\mssearchnet.exe
    del c:\windows\system32\nvctrl.exe
    del c:\windows\system32\ld3311.tmp
    del c:\windows\system32\perfc009.dat
    del c:\windows\system32\perfh009.dat
    del c:\windows\system32\perfstringbackup.ini
    del c:\windows\system32\ncompat.tlb

Cheers guys, Hijack this gave it a good smack, and I don't think it's coming back.
