Looks like its a growing trend, hopefully they'll get it sorted with bios/driver updates.
got new Firmwares from Seagate.
AAE follwed by AAH. Installed on both drives.
No good.....doesn't boot past windows first screen...reboots PC

Try uninstalling the drivers totaly, then reinstalling if you can.
Are you using the nvidia SW driver ? (it asks you when you install the nforce 4 drivers)
Did you update both of the drives seperatly ? (ie unplug one, install, then the same for the other ?)
nope I dontOriginally Posted by Agent
Safe mode makes it to the mup.sys file (?) then reboots the PC
It wont make it to Windws to do drivers to SW is not relevent yet
Did both drives seperately and tried installing XP on individually. Not happening.
Am just reflashing the firmware to just the first one that Rick from Seagate sent me: AAE, not gonna use AAH this time.
We'll see

Boot off XP disk, having one hard drive plugged in, showing in BIOS ok.
Hit F6 to use drivers off floppy for Sata. Having made a floppy with sata drivers from Asus CD rom (although the driver disk making utitility is called RAID it does seem to have SATA storage drivers too)
Once XP asks for the disk, a ble screen, I whack the floppy in, hit return, and two choices come up.
One is RAID, which I ignore (and which is turned off in BIOS) and one is SATA storage. I choose that one and hit return, and the flopy unloads it's goodness (nvatabus.sys)
I only choose that one, not the RAID one, even though they both say required next to them.
Is that right? It's how i did the last successfull machine.
It asks if I want anymore drivers and I hit Return for No I dont want anymore drivers.
XP installs.
After I set it up for Languages etc, it copies remaining files to HDD< then reboots /...and never makes it to windows before rebooting over and over.
It's not a floppy in the driver either or an XP cd in the drive...before ya shout
