    Temps&Shutting down

Just installed my new mobo the Abit AT8, and also installed a new xp-120. I thought id overclock my cpu(all specs are in "my System". So i simply uped to to 237x11 = 2.6. I know it genrally isnt that simple to overclock but thought id try it that way. I was playing source for about 15 mins, until my pc restarts. I went straight into bios o nthe restart and the cpu temp was 47 and NB was 53. What are these temps like, im gonna guess they would have been higher about 30 secs before as i was ingame...
What do u think caused the restart.
I never know how much paste too put on the cpu/hsf but it seemed adequete

    Any help would be great

    cheers

Edit: how would i increase the cpu fan? i cant find it in uGuru and speedfan is ****e

This is why it rebooted, not stable, try a notch up at a time. Personally I run a quick super pi 1m, and if it passes I go for prime

i was trying to run OCCT and during the pc restarted. My volts are now 1.475 and it restarted, its weird, cause on my asus a8n sli i managed to get 2.6 without a problem..

Im putting the volts up to 1.5 but on uGuru its still showing at 4.7... Even though im changing it in that aswell
    Even cpu-z is saying 1.4....

2.6 237x11 voltage i think was 1.45. Ive got a very weird feeling, that sp2004 and prime 95 are getting errors even at stock. I just a had a bit of spell where my pc kept freezing, 10 secons are reboot. cleared CMOs to no avail, but now things seem fine, when i went into bios and put everything to default....

    hmm

You could try dropping Muliplier of the CPU so it is still at stock or lower and setting the RAM to be at stock or lower just to see if the HTT bus can run at higher speeds

    ie 237x10 - > 2.37Ghz

my mb HTT can do 300+ but at stock volts my 165 can only cope with 250 *9 -> 2.25Ghz

(btw CPU-Z reports a slightly higher voltage for me - not sure if the mb is adding a bit more juice)

    edit: correct some gibberish

Drop the HT multiplier to 4 (you need to keep the total under 1000) from the default 5.

Put the RAM on the 166 divider. You might need to set the timings to PC3200 settings.

in all honestly, im really not used to the layout of this Abit bios.
A: I cant find the HTT option, Mulitplier
B: Cant see where to put the Ram on divider 166
C: correct to my last post the system is stable at stock
