NEC ND-6750 notebook DVDRW

I have an evesham (rebadged mitac) notebook in my posession currently, that I've been asked to upgrade the CDRW drive on. I've installed an NEC-6750 drive in it. The system will boot from the drive, there is power to the drive and when I boot into windows, the system detects it, but asks for drivers. I do the automatic thang, but it doesn't find anything. The manual on the NEC site says it doesn't need drivers.

Contacted NEC to ask about this, and was sent this link:

Which, as i'm sure you can see, is written in beautiful english. Problem is, I can't find this 'monitor' folder on the PC. I have gone into the windows/inf folder and deleted the infcache.1 file, but this 'monitor' folder eludes me. Anyone got any idea?

I've googled around for a bit, came across a few forums where the same guy has been having issues, but nothing useful as yet.

It sounds like you may need a different firmware (maybe a reverse ATA version).

Got it sorted, this info is for anyone else that may have an issue with getting the ND-6750 work without having to load drivers.

Googled around a bit more about "Liggy's" firmware thingy - it worked an absolute treat.
