    USB Headers

I bought a Silverstone Sugo SG01-Evolution and have been installing a pc into it. When I tried to connect the front USB ports to the motherboard, I came across a problem. The usb header cable has a pin header that is blocked out, and a pin is missing on the motherboard.

The problem is that the blocked out pin header, and the missing pin on the board don't correspond. Is there anything I can do about this? I tried the header cable in another motherboard and it fits fine.

    TIA

Are you sure your not getting the firewire headers and usb headers mixed up? I seem to recall they have differet blank pins but look pretty similar in that they are both 9 pin

IIRC, the blocked out pin should be on a corner pin, is this not the case with yours? If you're sure you're connecting it to the right header, you can usually swap pin assignments by using a needle or pin to push down and out whichever wires need swapping around

The pin block itself has USB written on it in white letters, and the pins I'm trying to put it into have USB printed onto the motherboard next to them. My manual also says that these are the USB pins.

Fatal, yes it is a corner pin. It's just the mirror image of what it should be . The blanked out pin on the cable is on the top left, and the missing pin on the motherboard is on the top right of the block. I'll try changing the assignment later.

Yeah you can pop the blockage out of the connector block usually (they are normally just a squarish plastic pin inserted into the connector block). I usually use a pin from the rear or something to force them out.

    good link here: http://www.directron.com/installusb.html

The pin blocked out is an intel standardisation of port headers...the one of the case maybe non-standard, but are you sure its not the audio or firewire headers? they have a different blocked out to avoid confusion...
