Help! SOS!!!!! Printer jam!

hello there,

I am in serious trouble, my printer made this funny crumpling sound whilst printing, so I cancelled it and opened the cover, and found a complete mess of ink and crumpled paper. I cannot get it out, no matter what I do. It's an Epson D88 from Scan.

I can call the help center, but they're closed right now and I would really like to fix it now as I need to print something off.

If you can't pull the paper out, then you might want to try manually turning some of the cogs / rollers,etc. That ought to dislodge it

Try and straighten the paper out if you can, and wiggle it from side to side whilst pulling it out.

I've tried, but it won't come out. The bulge is actually *in* the printer, where the cartridge holder is. And the paper hasn't come out of the receiving end since it had only started when the paper started to get mangled.

Is it just one normal piece of A4 paper?

Righty, this is rough as, but it'll work... power off (cable out) and move the carriage off the paper with your hands - it might rip, but that's ok, just complete the tear so you've got a clean(ish) edge. Move the carriage away, then grab the paper from the feed end (ie where it goes into the printer) Then GENTLY tease it backwards out of the machine, being very careful not to rip it any more. If it still says there's a jam, you've left a bit in the feed path, wrapped around the sensor flag which is an arse to get out.. SO BE CAREFUL!! if you feel it starting to tear, stop and be even more gentle, and try to pull it all along the edge of the paper rather than in one finger's worth of space, cos you'll just tear the paper, and when it's out, make sure all the paper you got makes up one sheet, or there'll be summat left in there
