How to change the boot menu default after Ubuntu installation

    Hi

I've installed Ubuntu after a bit of help from mike_W (Thanks!) and I've got a new boot loader.

My question is, how can I change from Ubuntu to Win XP as the default?

    Cheers

    Tim

I haven't used Ubuntu, but if you are using GRUB as the boot loader, you need to change qa file in the grub directory. The file could be menu.lst or grub.conf and may be in /boot/grub

Sorry to be a bit vague, but it is distro dependent.

Having opened the file in a text editor, change the dafault number in the global settings section to the number that corresponds to the menu order in the boot section (so if XP is the second entry then change default number to 1 (because you count from zero))

    Hi

I believe it is grub that is being used. I'll have a look, cheers.
