    i'm having a bad night

    i reinstalled windows xp and in the 5 mints it took me to download an antivirus program and firewall i got around 20 viruses, 5 spyware programs and 3 trojens i got rid of all the viruses and trojens but still get some of the annoying popups need help getting rid of them and i have used spybot but didnt remove all of them all if anybody has any good ideas please tell me .

    It's quite peculiar for you someone to get that many viruses in that time frame. Perhaps you are being targetted, and thus I'd recommend you try to change you IP address. Secondly, I'd check that any other partitions or external drives you use which are accessible do not contain viruses, as the moment you access them, you'll be infected.

    Finally, I would suggest that you pull the plug on the internet during installation, and enable the default Windows firewall so that you can safely download what you need to.

    If I were you, I'd pre-download everything that you'd need (anti-virus + firewall etc) before you reformat. Only plug in the net after everything's been installed, then you know you're saft. Since it's a new install and you can't have that much stuff on it yet, I'd consider doing another reformat just to make sure all the nasties have gone .

    yeah i couldent download the firewall and antivirus in advance because when windows packed in i had no internet to download them and the second drive is clean because i havent got anything on it at the moment and i check it reguarly. my ip changes everytime i reset my modem so they cant be targeting me and i cant reformat cos i misplaced the disk and dont know where i put it that was last night. i really was having a bas night!!!
