AND i am going to upgrade my memory to a 1GB Corsair Pro LED, DDR PC3200 (400), 184 Pin, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 3-3-3-8 for £82.12 have a look

So am i correct saying my motherboard cannot support ddr2 and if it cant should i get a new motherboard supporting ddr2, but spending the money on an new one just for ddr2 and using a amd singal core cpu, is it worth it????? plz help

Your system spec would help, but looking at the motherboard you posted above it will only accept DDR1 ram. What is the purpose of upgrading the ram? I would only suggest getting high end ram if you plan to overclock, if you're not overclocking its a waste of money. You would be better with 2Gb of value ram.

Edit: DDR2 is currently only compatable with AMD's socket AM2 CPUs and with most intel CPUs, although i'm not sure which intel CPUs use DDR2. Therefor you would at least need a new CPU, motherboard and ram to use DDR2 ram.

yes i am going to overclock but, at the moment i only have a amd 3200, and also ime not sure what overclocking tool to get ive got one but it doesent work??

I know very little about overclocking, i only really know how it works in principal what it does and how it achieves it. Google would be your best bet to find you a guide. Then if you have any problems the guide can't help with post on here to get some help, there's plenty of other people that can help.

Your using a Compaq PC. There will be no overclocking options in BIOS. Even though the motherboard is made by MSI, it will be to Compaq's specs (and hence no overclocking options).

What exactly is wrong with it anyway, that you so desperately need to overclock it?

And finally, if you buy a motherboard that supports DDR2, you will also need to replace your CPU - there are no boards available that support S939 AMD CPUs & DDR2 RAM.
