Hello all,
After having a solid xp2500+ barton & GA N400 PRO2 for 3 years and still running, I decided to upgrade my computer, after days & night reading on Core 2 duo, amd am2 setup problems of SDRAM compatibility and bios, I made a decision for a temporary upgrade (while waiting for the core 2 duo to mature) system: ECS RS482-M & X2 3800+ combo for $159.00 US.
I don't have to spend for any other thing since I can use my old solid 1GB PC2700 DDR1. SATA 1.
The board was nice, boot it up first time with auto default setting, auto detect my PC2700. Loaded XP SP2 with no hick ups.
The problem came when I flash with the new bios 1.2c which supports SB450? I forgot to back up my old bios, and the new bios caused windows NOT to detect VIDEO card on board, the Radeon Express 200. It just doesn't see it. I reloaded windows from scratch and it still didn't see the video hardware on board.
I returned the motherboard and get a new one. Everything is fine again with the bios dated 12/25/05. I'm not going to update the bios to 1.2b or 1.2c.
AM I doing anything wrong? If I want to upgrade the bios to 1.2c, is there something else I need to do for the windows to see the video hardware? My setup disc that comes with the board is version 2.4T.
Cheers,
