    Divx Issues

    Hi All,

I have recently formatted my PC and re-installed all software. Everything was running smoothly until I came to play back a Divx movie as I didn't have the decoder installed. I then installed a codec from www.divx.com and this seemed to do the trick. The problem now is the quality of the movie. It is very dark and the colours seem off.

I have MCE 2005 installed and when I watch TV, DVD etc through that using the pure video decoder the quality is amazing.

Can anyone please give any help on why the Divx quality is so poor?

    Kind Regards,

    James

Get rid of DivX and install the all singing all dancing Kazza Codec pack. Do a google search to find it.

    Should fix everything

I prefer the all-singing, all-dancing FFmpeg. On Windows, I believe it is incorporated into VLC.

Codec packs are *the* number one reason when it comes to codec issues.

Could just be that it is of low quality, rather than a codec issue

I have never had a problem. Still I guess I'm using a Mac now so don't need to worry about this kind of thing.

Just install the xvid codec from here: http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/

    And install this AC3 codec (AC3Filter): http://ac3filter.net/index.php?name=...rticle&artid=5

Congrats you can now play 98%+ of divx/xvid files out there

On a side note, codec packs can cause major problems - ever tried uninstalling one of the bad codecs in the pack?
