    Weird Crashes!!!

    Hey guys,

I just got a new graphics card the other day and i am using it and everyhting seems good. But one game, Pro Evolution Soccer 5 which i tried playing today crashed during the middle of a game. The monitor went black and the pc restarted and i thought i might have kicked the restart button but i am quite sure i didnt now since it happened again. But whats weird is that sometimes it crashes but doesnt restart...it just comes up with pes5.exe has encountered a problem and must close...

You guys have any ideas on what is going on?? I have a laptop and it works fine on there so yeh i suspect its the graphics card. The game doesnt struggle at all..i can play on the highest resolution and highest quality and it runs at max fps with no probs except this random crash is getting annoying.
It doesnt happen every game too..i could play about 2 10 min games without it stuffing up but on the third it could crash...its really random!!

    Any advice will be appreciated!!

I don't know which card you have but if it's Nvidia, try deleting game profile using nhancer. I had some games crashing due to poor profile in 9x.xx drivers. You can either delete them or swap them with more stable 8x.xx series driver profiles. If that doesn't help then it could be hardware issue like overheating or not enough juice from power supply...etc.

I've no idea...but 350w should be sufficient for that card I think. Have you turned fast writes off inside bios?

Oh, I've just remembered something. When I had 9600se, I always had random crashes when I was on official ATI driver. Switching to OMEGA solved my problem then. Maybe it's woth trying if you haven't already?

I don't remember exactly what AGP Fast Write does, but I think it improves the speed of communication between CPU and the video card, but this is not the case in many situation and is very well known to cause more problems when enabled.
Omega is very popular third party modified driver for Ati(and Nvidia). It's been modified to improve IQ as well as FPS. If you're on 9600/9800 I recommend these drivers over official ones. They're much stable.

Can you try this for me?
Take side of PC case off, and aim a fan into it. Then try again, see if it's just overheating in there.

Ok thanks for the replies next time i play ill open up the side and aim a fan into it. Ive checked all the fans on the motherboard and the graphics card fan is working well...but ill try anyway. If that dont work then ill turn fast writes off then install the omega drivers.

Ill give u the results soon.
