    This old one that you know works does the same thing on your brothers pc also?

    Yep. The computer gets a bit laggy as well, untill you take the cd out. It completely crashes windows explorer

    So since you know it's not the dvd drive, it must be something else Guess you need to go through what parts are the same on yours and your brothers pc, assuming they aren't identical lol.

    The only hardware similarity is they both use 3200s but his is am2. I really doubt its that. Software wise thay both have limewire, power dvd, avast, winamp and divx.

    I bought the cheapest lite-on one at scan and that doesn't work either. The symptoms are different this time though. It works if I disable it and enable it a few times. But its really slow. When it isn't working it says "this device failed to start". Any ideas?
