    which laptop hdd, pls help me choose in this thread

    need a new laptop hdd thinking either ebuyer or dabs here ...western digital 100gb ata100 8mb buffer ... should i get 2mb or 8mb buffer because its only a couple pence difference, the 8mb seems to be cheaper then 2mb?

    they are all 55 avg delivered , so im not fussed, im guessing to go for dabs WD , 100gb, 8mb?

    dabs WD , 100gb, 8mb =

    dabs WD , 100gb , 2mb =

    ebuyer , WD , 100gb , 2gb

    but then again , a 2mb buffer due to heat issues with 8mbs buffer laptop 2.5" hdds?

    First off none of the links you've posted work

    However I'd generally judge a hard disk by these categories, and in this order:

    Price, Spindle Speed, Capacity, Cache.

    I don't see any point in going for a 2mb cache if 8mb is the same money, and it should have no effect on heat output. The difference in heat will be from a higher spindle speed - say upgrading from a 4200rpm to a 5400 or 7200rpm hard disk.

    OK thanks , i think i go for this one from dabs=

    Western Digital Scorpio 100GB U100 5400rpm 8MB @ £51.19
    pp= £4.50
    total £55.69
    voucher discount -£5.00
    new total £50.69
