Is there such thing as a battery that a cigarette lighter plug can plug into?

I've just purchase a sat nav, but just realised that My ickle peugeot 106 hasn't got a cigarette lighter!
I just wondered if there's such a thing as a battery that has a cigarette lighter socket on it, that my sat nav power plug will be able to plug into?

Most jump start units have a cig lighter socket on them, but they tend to be quiet large, and you have to remember to charge them. Personally I would try and fit a socket myself, or get an auto electrician to do it. Maplins are doing a jump starter for £30.

your local car parts shop should stock a socket with cable, most have a couple of mounting screws and end up being fitted in the glove box or under the passenger side of the dash out of sight. if your not confident fitting it yourself, ask a friend if they fancy the job, or even asking the car parts shop if anyone does a little work on the side at weekends or nights and bung em £10 - £20 for fitting it.

dead easy job as there are rubber bungs with wires going to the engine bay located around the passenger side glovebox area..

or did the sat nav come with a wiring kit ?
my radar detector has cigar lighter socket and a direct to batery connection for permenant feed (no cable across the dashboard)

found one at motorworld, http://www.motor-world.co.uk/categor...sub_cat_id=242 the 2nd one with crocodile clips, chop off the clips and wire to battery.
the 1st hit on that page says to see instore, most towns have one. if you see 2 saxo's with big exhausts and fat alloy wheels, chance is your outside a store !

    Thanks for the info guys.
I honestly hadn't realised that it's possible to fit a lighter socket yourself with relative ease. I'll prob have a go at that.
I honestly don't know if it comes with its own wiring kit as I haven't received it in the post yet. It's a Garmin Nuvi 310 deluxe, and only comes with a cigarette lighter socket plug as far as I know.

hell yeh, grab a torch and look under the foot well in the passenger side, if you see a rubber bung with wires going through, thats what your after, i use a screwdriver to prise open a gap where the existing wires go through (don't scrape any wires bare, taping the end of the screwdriver stops you damaging anything) and poke your new wires through the gap you made. leave the screwdriver in place while you pull through what you need and connect the wires to the battery (just back the nut off and tuck it in) when its all wired up, tape the new wires where you can, chance is you will follow the loom back to the rubber bung, then remove your screwdriver, curse you just lost the tape off the end, then go have a drink for a job well done

just remember, if you mount it in the glove box, put the wires through the glovebox 1st (i forgot on my 1st car )

Just a side note, if you do decide to go diy make sure you fit an inline fuse. Also worth noting you might invalidate the fire bit of your insurane, personally I would fit it so its switched by the key.
