New PSU for Skt A system

    Hi All,

I currently have an Antec Truepower 550W ATX PSU but want to replace it for something quiter. However I am unsure on what to buy at the moment.

My concerns are that my current PSU is ATX 1.0 and now PSUs seem to be ATX 2.2 compatiable. Does this mean I can't use this power supply in my system (please check the system button for my system components if that helps)? Thanks in advance.

    Rich

ATX 1 and 2.2 are backwards (and sometimes forwards - dependant on motherboard - compatible.)

I'd say something like the Corsair HX520 - should be more than adequate

What about this power supply on Scan? My budget is about £55:

I use a Seasonic 430W from Scan - very quiet (see reviews etc on silentpcreview.com). It runs an old workhorse PC running a Socket A 2500+ Barton, 4 or 5 drives, DVD writer and a nVidia 5200 card.

That was my first thought, though I wasn't sure how well it would cope with the x1950pro...

I think the cheaper 380W Seasonic would probably be enough. Check for yourself though:
